Influencer marketing is when companies partner with influencers to increase brand awareness, reach new audiences, generate sales, and improve brand advocacy. In today's digital world, Influencer Marketing has become an immense and essential part of marketing. The influencer marketing industry was worth $8 billion in 2019 and is expected to expand its worth up to $15 billion by 2022. This goes to show that influencer marketing is not just a trend. It has changed the way brands interact with their customers.
As a social media influencer, we love establishing relationships and connecting with our loyal audiences. Statistics show that 74% of people rely on social media to make a purchase decision, 49% of people rely on influencers for product recommendations, and 42% of people who saw influencer ads ended up trying the product or service. This is great for brands to collaborate with influencers because they have already built a loyal audience who trust their opinions, so when they see an influencer post about a product, they are more likely to purchase. This puts your product in front of a whole new audience as well. I have an audience of 608k alone just on Instagram. My combined followers from other platforms would put my audience reach around 900k.
Audience reach is important when it comes to influencer marketing, but the engagement rate is also important. Someone could have a lot of followers, but if their engagement is down, then you are unlikely to get significant results when it comes to marketing and promoting your brand. It is important to find a good balance between an influencers engagement rate and audience. Any influencer with an engagement rate lower than 1% is very low and probably shouldn't be considered when looking for influencer marketing. An Engagement rate between 1%-3.5% is good, and will get you great results when using influencer marketing. Engagement rates at 3.5%-6% are high and anything over 6% is excellent, but those numbers are hard to reach, unless they have a small audience. On average, the engagement rate for most social media influencers with a high audience is usually between 1%-3.5%.

Instagram is the highest ranked platform for influencer marketing, but other platforms are available as well. Instagram is ranked at 89%, Youtube is 70%, Facebook is 45%, Blogs 44%, Twitter 33%, LinkedIn 19%, Pinterest 15%, Twitch 6%, and Snapchat is at 3%.
